The Ned NoMad art collection draws inspiration from the historic Beaux-Arts Johnson building (1903) in which it is housed which was originally owned by a woman, Caroline A. Johnston – extremely unusual for the time and a fact which became the central inspiration for the collection titled ‘A Different Century’. Responding to this, the collection asks what A Different Century might have looked like and what representation means, now and then. Bringing together nearly 300 artworks, the Ned NoMad art collection presents a veritable who’s who of the New York contemporary art scene.
